Why Brisbane Car Owners Are Booking Paint Correction Before It Gets Worse

Paint defects do not stay the same. Swirl marks from drive-through washes, fine scratches from car park doors, and oxidation from Queensland's UV all cut deeper into your clear coat over time. Once that clear coat is gone, you are looking at a respray, not a correction.

A properly corrected car holds its resale value. Buyers notice paint condition before they notice anything else. A vehicle that looks factory-fresh in direct sunlight will sell faster and for more than one that looks dull and scratched under the same light. That difference pays for the correction multiple times over.

Paint correction also gives you a surface worth protecting. Whether you are following up with ceramic coating or just maintaining what you have got, corrected paint is the foundation. There is no point sealing in defects with a coating. STARC Detailing Co. corrects first, so whatever goes on top actually works.

The Paint Correction Process

1

Paint Thickness Measurement

Before any machine touches your car, Jamie reads the paint thickness on every panel with a digital gauge. This tells us exactly how much clear coat is available to work with, which stage of correction is safe, and where extra care is needed. No guessing, no risk.

20-30 mins
2

Decontamination Wash

Your car goes through a full decontamination process: a foam pre-soak, hand wash, iron fallout removal, tar spot treatment, and a clay bar pass across all painted surfaces. Correction only works on a chemically clean surface. This step is what separates a real correction from a quick buff.

45-90 mins
3

Machine Correction

The right combination of pads and compounds is selected based on your specific defects and clear coat hardness. Each panel is worked in a consistent pattern under bright LED lighting. We check progress panel by panel and adjust if needed. Nothing gets skipped, no single pass rushed.

2-6 hours depending on stage and vehicle size

IPA Wipe-Down and Defect Check

After polishing, every panel is wiped with an isopropyl alcohol solution. This strips out any oils left by the polish and shows the true correction result. Under LED lighting, we check every panel for remaining defects, high spots, or areas that need a second pass before we call it done.

30-45 mins
5

Final Inspection and Handover

Your car is walked through panel by panel in direct light and under LED inspection lamps. Jamie talks you through what was corrected, what was not achievable within the available clear coat, and what protection is recommended to keep the result. You leave knowing exactly what was done and why.

Paint Correction FAQ

Cost varies based on the stage of correction required, the size of the vehicle, and the condition of the paint. STARC Detailing Co. offers Single Stage, Two Stage, and Multi-Stage options. Because every car is different, we quote after assessing your paint in person or from photos. Get a Free Quote Now and Jamie will give you a straight answer.
A Single Stage correction on a standard-sized car typically takes four to six hours. A Two Stage adds another two to three hours on top of that. Multi-Stage corrections on larger vehicles or heavily defected paint can run a full day or more. We do not cut the time short to fit more jobs in.
The correction itself is permanent for the defects it removes. Clear coat does not grow back, so swirl marks and scratches that are polished away are gone. How long your paint stays in that condition depends on how you wash and maintain it. Following up with a ceramic coating adds a layer of protection that makes proper maintenance much easier.
Avoid automatic drive-through washes entirely. Hand washing with a proper two-bucket method, a quality wash mitt, and a pH-neutral car shampoo will keep your paint in good shape. If a ceramic coating was applied after correction, follow the specific maintenance schedule provided at handover. Poor washing habits are the fastest way to undo a correction result.
Paint correction removes existing defects in the clear coat. Because the result depends on the original paint condition and your ongoing maintenance habits, STARC Detailing Co. will talk you through realistic expectations at your inspection before any work starts. Jamie does not start a job he cannot complete to a standard he is confident in.
A cut and polish from a tyre shop or car wash uses generic compound and a rotary machine, usually applied quickly across the whole car with no paint thickness checks or defect mapping. Paint correction is a measured process: paint thickness is read first, the right pad and compound combination is selected for your specific paint, and each panel is worked and inspected before moving on. The results are not comparable.
Defects that sit within the clear coat layer can be corrected. Scratches that have cut through the clear coat into the base coat or primer are not removable by polishing. At the initial inspection, Jamie assesses each panel and tells you exactly what is correctable and what is not. There are no surprises at handover.
